Puppy Contract/Health Guarantee

By placing a deposit, buyer agrees to all terms and conditions of our Contract & Guarantee listed below:

At Sweet Pea Shih Tzus, we love our puppies and provide them with the utmost care until they go to their new homes. We know that you will love your Sweet Pea Shih Tzu puppy too and continue to care for them as we have. We recommend that you spay/neuter your puppy by 6 months old. As of the date of delivery, your puppy will receive all age appropriate vaccinations and dewormings.

Health Guarantee
Sweet Pea Shih Tzus offers a 24 month replacement guarantee against life threatening congenital diseases in our puppies. All of our parents are health tested to produce the healthiest babies possible. Our guarantee does not cover minor issues that are common to this breed, such as umbilical or inguinal hernias, tight nostrils or open fontanels (soft spot on skull). These usually correct on their own and do not require surgical repair. If repair is recommended by your vet, these issues can be repaired at the time of spay/neuter if they do not correct as the puppy matures.

Buyer must have the puppy checked by their veterinarian within 72 hours after picking up their puppy for this guarantee to be in effect. A copy of the vet report must be sent to Sweet Pea Shih Tzus within 30 days.

This puppy appears to be of sound body and good health at the time of purchase. Your puppy has been examined by our veterinarian and no defects or disease were found. Upon confirmation of a defect found from a licensed veterinarian and confirmed by our veterinarian, Seller will provide a replacement puppy of equal value from our next available litter. The buyer is responsible for any shipping costs associated with the replacement guarantee. All health records from a licensed veterinarian must be provided to seller. The puppy must be kept in good health by the purchaser, including preventative care, vaccinations and treatment for parasites. The guarantee will be terminated if the puppy does not have up to date medical records, has been neglected or abused or has been used for breeding.

All guarantees apply to the original buyer only and are not transferable. Our guarantee does not cover diseases that can be prevented by vaccinations or hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), which is common in small breed puppies. It is of utmost importance to make sure your puppy is eating every 4-6 hours when they come home. We recommend giving your puppy Nutrical 3 times a day for the first few days after you receive your puppy. Sweet Pea Shih Tzus is not responsible for any veterinarian bills after the puppy leaves our care.

The buyer agrees that the puppy will receive routine veterinary care and be primarily kept indoors. Shih Tzu are small, indoor dogs and should not be kept outside for extended periods. We cannot guarantee the color or size a puppy will be when it matures. We do our best to estimate size and color based on our experience. Limited AKC papers will be provided once proof of spay/neuter is sent to Sweet Pea Shih Tzus.
Deposits are non refundable and can be moved to a future litter if we do not produce your puppy or you decide to wait. If you have paid in full for a puppy and cannot take the puppy for any reason, you will have one year to pick another puppy of equal value. If payments are not made on time - 1/2 due to reserve a puppy,, full payment by 8 weeks old - and arrangements have not been made with seller, then the puppy will be re-listed for sale. No refunds will be given.

Buyer agrees not to do a Paypal chargeback or payment chargeback for any reason. Any legal action taken regarding the sale of this puppy will be handled in St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana at the buyer's expense.

If at any time the dog must leave the permanent ownership of the buyer, Sweet Pea Shih Tzus must be notified and given the first option to take the dog back. AKC papers must be transferred back to the seller if the dog is returned and no refund will be given. This dog must not ever be placed in an animal shelter.
